Laura truly thrives when she is bridging research and practice. She appreciates both and is adept at translating empirical evidence into fascinating insight that we can all use.

As a researcher herself, she is currently studying for a PhD in Psychology at Kent University, has a Masters in Coaching and Mentoring Practice (Distinction), and an Honours degree in Psychology.

She was awarded the coveted Bill Law Research award for her work into midlife career reinvention coaching by The National Institute for Career Education and Counselling (NICEC).

As a practitioner, Laura brings a wealth of business experience, having held Director level positions in respected businesses across six different sectors – including Retail (John Lewis Partnership), Pharmaceuticals (GSK), Insurance (Aviva), Oil and Gas (Centrica), Defence (BAE Systems) and Luxury Goods (Burberry). She typically headed up Talent Management, Learning and Development or Organisation Effectiveness – or a combination of all three.

Her book, Dancing with fear and confidence: How to liberate yourself and your career in mid-life, combines findings from her own research with the best of other peoples into an accessible, empowering and engaging read.

Laura’s PhD research is addressing The barriers and boosts to fulfilling work for midlife women. There will be a flow of insight over the next three years including an evidence-based framework and tools to support practitioners and individuals.
